Perhaps decay could be proportional to standing? Higher spot, higher decay?

Ahhhhhhh. And now I'm glad the leaderboards are anonymous tongue

Edit: StarCraft 2 utilizes a pool of points where users are subject to rank decay, but upon returning to play, earn a raised increase in rating until they climb from that pool back to the standard ranking system. That said, that's going to be a decent bit more sql actions/data for a small neat feature.

Ohhhhhh, in that case, it sounds rad!

Might as well throw in here, I'm extremely interested in tournament style play. Super bummed I missed it.

One problem that you didn't mention for the main game is Smurfing, where I could lose 50 1 cent matches to lower my elo, and then pubstomp my way back to the middle using 1$ matches.

^Agreed. Plus, that's part of the fun of head to head stuff like this. You never know if someone's got the nuts, IS nuts, or is just bluffing. big_smile

Good stuff! I've been picking a bit of this up myself over just the past few hours. (Look for me creeping up those leaderboards wink) Feigning a limp in particular has been doing well for me.

Also, +1 for Rounders.

Just a heads up, I don't know if this knowledge will be very important to many (or any), but CM's networking gets mucked up in virtual machines if the network adapter isn't bridged.

(Our virus scanner at work picks up most things compiled by minGWgcc as viruses, and I'm trying to avoid people seeing that I'm playing a pagan themed gambling game on the job.)

While I'm here, thanks for the Linux client, Jason!
