Just to put Judge Poorman's few cents in on this....

I agree with the problem, I am rapidly losing interest in playing cause everyone who is a good player seems to fold every hand unless they have a 32+ on the first tile.  So I have literally sat there for 30 minutes playing and winning 8 chips or something.  Personally, I don't like the idea of reducing the chip count, I like 100 chips.  What I was going to propose independently of this post was to make it so that along with setting the game amount, you  could set the blind.  For me, I would love to play a $50-$100 game where both players need to ante either 5 or 10 chips to see the card.  That would definitely speed up the game, and make it less of a grind.  I think a lot of time, I do a pretty good job of jamming the other player on the first turn, but it only pays one chip.  The other alternative would be to emulate the sit and go type poker tournaments where the blind/ante goes up over time, however, I think the conservative players would just quit out once the ante got too high.

AnoHito,

I appreciate your concern I guess....you put me in an awkward position here, there are very few ways I can respond without looking like a jerk.

Would you feel better if I were a multi-millionaire?  If so, let's just assume that's the case without me actually having to say it.  By the way, some of these theoretical millions were earned by doing things some people deemed "utterly foolish acts."

Also, I'm not sure where you get off declaring a certain dollar amount to be the official threshold where charity begins.  Nor do you know what my charitable contributions look like. If you lost three dollars playing CM, should I suggest the money be better be put to use buying a hamburger for a hungry person?

Ok, I can't help myself, I'm going to be a jerk...why don't you tell me your annual salary/net worth, we can use that as the denominator.  Your CM wagers and charitable contributions can be the numerators...  Let me know what you come up with and we will compare notes and see who is really being the most irresponsible.

PS I just put another $300, that I will probably donate to "Nate's Kids" out of spite.

Nate do you really want to empty your account so soon?  You might need that to turn that $5k into $10k!

I thought I just funded it!  smile My poor gambling skills have a long history of funding lots of projects - if you ever go to Las Vegas, check out the Wynn Casino and hotel - I think I paid for one of the towers.

And yes, I think I was finally figuring out how to play this game and you disappeared smile

I got my your PM, I will give you a call.  I am working on my own game on the side as well.  Well, calling it my own game is a stretch, I am working a reboot of the Jason's The Castle Doctrine (my all time favorite game), the reboot is called Terminal Heist.  It's based on the TCD source code, but works on mobile devices, has a more family friendly space theme, a single player puzzle/tutorial mode and has some other changes.

I have basically only played Nate, and only played him poorly, not sure if that impacts ELO.

I think I should get my name changed to No-Judgement Doormat

Remember when I said yesterday, that I wasn't an idiot?  I might have been wrong about that.

Yeah, Nate is beating handily and I'm actually trying to win this time.  I am still learning though...hopefully I will give him something of a challenge here eventually... Good on you Nate!

I am playing $100, is that you Nate?  If so send me a private message with your skype or IM... I'd love to chat while we are playing.  Also, as predicted you are beating me still but at a much slower rate!  How's that for progress.

I have a CS degree and started out as a programmer. I am executive in a start up now, and have had a few successful startups in the past.

Happy to be of service!

At least Cordial Minuet has cost me 100-150x less than The Castle Doctrine has.

No need to apologize, I didn't read your post as "jerky" at all.  I was playing badly and you have every right to crow about it, I just wanted you to know the reason.

#64 Re: Main Forum » The Tragedy of Judge Doorman » 2015-01-01 08:50:12

No it wasn't bad luck I was trying to lose, did you not read my post....you didn't notice I chose the far right column for you EVERY TIME?  I will happily play you $100 once Jason lifts the deposit cap off of me.  I'm sure you will still probably beat me, but I will actually try this time.  I had trouble getting interested in $5 games, thus my little experiment if I could get someone to play for more.  To be absolutely clear, I ramped nate into playing me for $100, I lost a $10 on purpose then a $20, then a $30 then a $40 then a $60, then a $80 then a $100 - for anyone thinking I just sat down starting $100 games and trying to lose to get a high limits game going,

#65 Re: Main Forum » The Tragedy of Judge Doorman » 2015-01-01 08:06:15

I am Judge Doorman.

Anyway, before you sprain your arm patting yourself on your back, I was intentionally playing as poorly as I could to see if I could get a player to play high stakes with me.  This was of course before I realized that the $500 cap was not just on a per deposit basis, but total.  Anyway, I am neither drunk nor an idiot, just a guy doing an experiment.  I will be back on playing high stakes once I get my limit raised.  To be clear, I am not claiming I am in anyway good at this game, but you were playing someone that was trying to lose in this instance.

Enjoy the winnings, and happy new year!
