Why do people quit immediately?

Pretty often my opponent will quit the game, leaving 1 chip, before the first round completes. Are they just testing something? Is it a connection problem?

Re: Why do people quit immediately?

The leaving problem has been discussed for a while. Some claim it is because the player is frustrated by a low number and leaves (how you would know they got a low number is beyond me).

If you joined their game, then the simplest explanation is they walked away from the computer or failed to hear the notification that you had joined.

It could also be that sometimes they just had to run. Guilty here.

Yeah, I'm talking about cases where I set up the lobby, it's the first game, and it hasn't even shown the crosspicks, so it's like they timed out before taking a single action.

Re: Why do people quit immediately?

Some of you may have seen me. I have been poking around with the source code(for theming, stat calculation, or what have you) and half my compiles crash mid game. Often coming back to having lost 1% of my previous buy-in.

That would explain it. Thanks!

Re: Why do people quit immediately?

I just realized, leaving first-round only leaves you with a net loss of one coin. Finishing the round just to see, then quitting (be it, not wanting to play or bad picks), would potentially lose two coins. One to the lost round, one to house for leaving early. Right?

Re: Why do people quit immediately?

If you leave before the final payout animation finishes, I don't think you pay for the 2nd coin.

And as a thought experiment, what if it were true? You'd be paying an extra 1 coin "fee" for a chance at one round. Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to play the whole game and only have to pay that extra coin once for all the many rounds you played?

Re: Why do people quit immediately?

What's really annoying me is people leaving a game only to start the same stakes game immediately even though the previous game was super close.

Re: Why do people quit immediately?

I've also observed this. The only thing I can imagine is they're doing source code changes and tests. *shrug
