Remember when I said yesterday, that I wasn't an idiot? I might have been wrong about that.

Nope. I think I'm the idiot for not leaving $100 in my account.

I think I should get my name changed to No-Judgement Doormat

If you're going to spend $3K building the game's reputation as one where you can make $3K off a fool, I hope that you'd at least have a game journalist handy.
Oh please tell me that this is an experiment in Martingale betting!

Weird how Nate's Elo has jumped 60 points while playing Doorman. I'll believe he's possible the best player, but is that really expected?

His Elo is 215 points above cullman. That corresponds to only a 78% chance of winning a game, so if he wins 100% of those matches his rating will keep increasing rapidly.
The Elo ratings of all the top players is probably still hundreds of points below the true ratings. It's going to take a while to pump them up to the true levels.

I have basically only played Nate, and only played him poorly, not sure if that impacts ELO.

Playing the same opponent repeatedly doesn't matter.

If I can get serious for a second here...
I am actually a full time, solo, independent game developer, just like Jason. I am currently 3 years into a music game project that has had a lot of financial difficulties, as many music/rhythm game tend to. I'm only 22, but the game I'm making is huge in scope for one person...
The money I won playing cullman is definitely going to help me finish this game.
So that's a feel good gambling story! Also I could tell cullman was improving a lot as we played, don't mess with that guy now that he's had some practice.
And cullman, I know you were involved with some startups, and I am a startup. The game I'm making is revolutionary, I'll even show you if you want! Do you know anyone who would be interested in funding/investing in my project potentially? Thanks!

I thought I just funded it! My poor gambling skills have a long history of funding lots of projects - if you ever go to Las Vegas, check out the Wynn Casino and hotel - I think I paid for one of the towers.
And yes, I think I was finally figuring out how to play this game and you disappeared
I got my your PM, I will give you a call. I am working on my own game on the side as well. Well, calling it my own game is a stretch, I am working a reboot of the Jason's The Castle Doctrine (my all time favorite game), the reboot is called Terminal Heist. It's based on the TCD source code, but works on mobile devices, has a more family friendly space theme, a single player puzzle/tutorial mode and has some other changes.

cullman, you've made Cordial Minuet history here. if you ever decide you want to play with some of us plebeians, occasionally there are some of us in this chatroom: http://us19.chatzy.com/88872904022107

Looks like I'll be getting a W9 from Nate soon....
So, the proof on file is held per card, but only one player can use each card.
Otherwise, who would we have proof on file for?
Imagine that we have proof on file for you for a card, and then you put in $1000 on that card.
Then someone else comes along and uses the same card to put in $50. Should we allow that? Yeah, we already have proof on file, but not for this other player.
It just seemed safer to block two people from using the same card.
Yeah, it would be nice to buy accounts as gifts for people. There's also money-laundering concerns, though, so I can't support that explicitly on the server (I don't want to be regulated like a money service business, so I have to avoid direct transfers between players).
Offline
Jason, while you're in here, I didn't get an e-mail with instructions for the W9.
What should I do for that?
edit: nvm just got it thank u!

Nate do you really want to empty your account so soon? You might need that to turn that $5k into $10k!
Offline
I will never empty my account totally... I'll always keep over $500 I think.

...I am utterly speechless. This is the kind of compulsive gambling that destroys people, and it's something I'm not willing to be a party to. I only play low stakes games for a reason. I'm not willing to bet enough to seriously damage another person by gambling. If I ever saw someone betting like cullman, I would have walked away very quickly. In Cordial Minuet, there is even less luck involved than I game like poker. Betting this kind of money without any experience is such an utterly foolish act, I am honestly having a hard time believing someone actually did it. I hope for your sake cullman, that you seriously have this kind of money to lose. And if you want to throw away your money on something, there are a lot of charities that could use it more than Nate (no offense Nate).

AnoHito,
I appreciate your concern I guess....you put me in an awkward position here, there are very few ways I can respond without looking like a jerk.
Would you feel better if I were a multi-millionaire? If so, let's just assume that's the case without me actually having to say it. By the way, some of these theoretical millions were earned by doing things some people deemed "utterly foolish acts."
Also, I'm not sure where you get off declaring a certain dollar amount to be the official threshold where charity begins. Nor do you know what my charitable contributions look like. If you lost three dollars playing CM, should I suggest the money be better be put to use buying a hamburger for a hungry person?
Ok, I can't help myself, I'm going to be a jerk...why don't you tell me your annual salary/net worth, we can use that as the denominator. Your CM wagers and charitable contributions can be the numerators... Let me know what you come up with and we will compare notes and see who is really being the most irresponsible.
PS I just put another $300, that I will probably donate to "Nate's Kids" out of spite.

Baller status achieved.
Just for the record, I would return all of my winnings to cullman if I ever thought he needed it. Same goes for anyone I play.

Send me a demo of your game, Nate!

Just did!! Thanks so much for looking at it!

Nate, do you have a download of it anywhere? I dabble in programming. Looking over Jason's source has actually influenced some of the stuff I've been doing over the past week. But even if not source, I'd just be curious to see it too
Try Linux, get free. #!++ (CrunchbangPlusPlus) is a stable distribution based on Debian 8. Keep it fast, keep it pretty.

I can't really show it publicly yet because of music licensing issues, but when I can show it, I'll be sure to dig this thread back up and post a demo xD.
