Okay! This change is in place.
To prevent people who have only played a few small games (and won them) from swamping it, I added a term that would even out people who have played few games: the factor Q = 20 / num_games
So, profit ratio is now: ( buyIn + won - lost + Q ) / ( buyIn + Q ).
So, when you have played less than 20 games, Q pushes your ratio toward 1. And even if you've played more than 20 games, if you've played lots of small-stake games, Q still pushes your ratio toward 1.
I've also added a win/loss leaderboard, which is just (won + Q) / (lost + Q). Of course, the same effect of Q for people who have played few games, or low-stakes games, applies. Also, Q prevents divide-by-zero or almost-zero. Without it, some brand new players had win/loss of 6000.
Jere, this probably won't make you happy, because you're no longer at the top of these (though it's no longer because of your prize). But I think they are a bit more accurate. Ship Suds has won 3x more than they've lost.
If anyone has insights about how to make these even more sensible, please share! I just picked the number 20 because it felt right, but perhaps something more complicated would be better here.

Haha! I don't need to be #1, just thought it was weird how all the top people dropped off. This looks much better but I don't quite understand it fully. What's the meaning of "buy in" term in this calculation?

buyIn is total amount you've bought into games with. If you've played 100 $1 games, your total buy-in would be 100. If you left 75 of those games up by 5 cents, your "won" would be 3.75. If you left the other 25 games down by 5 cents, your "lost" would be 1.25.
Ignoring Q, your profit ratio would be (100 + 3.75 - 1.25) / 100 = 1.025
Your Q would be 20 / 100 = 0.2
Factoring Q in, your profit ratio would be (100 + 3.75 - 1.25 + 0.2) / ( 100 + 0.2) = 1.02495

Ah, neat! These two new leader boards are much closer to what I was hoping for.
Let Q = R / num_games
R should be picked while taking into account the stakes that people actually play for: if everyone started playing for 10x more it should go up 10x. Computing and updating R continuously would be very messy so I'm not suggesting that, but it could be reviewed a couple times. I think the current value is fine, because even if you only play 10c games, it doesn't have much impact by the time you've played 30 or 40.

Whoa. We've got our first high roller. Someone has put in nearly $500!
And it looks like Nate is somehow up a huge amount too.

Nice climb!
I'm having flashbacks of The Castle Doctrine.
Mr. Price, what are you doing here? Why are you carrying 79 saws? Don't talk that way to my wife, Mr. Price!
At least in this game you can't take my money while I'm asleep.

Wow, it looks like we have a new king. Congratulations jeopardy alcohol, where on earth did you come from?

Told you I was coming for you Jere .
Now to deal with alcohol...

Lol. In the past day I have dropped from 306 to 224. Doorman has beat me the last three games we played (and apparently the last two against Nate too). This game is rough.

Sorry. I don't do this very often, but...
HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM APPLES?
Long story, josh, but I thought you were cullman (Doorman) and I was playing totally off for any one else. I literally have been waiting hours to play this dude. Suddenly I realize he's not there and I'm freaking out. Had to leave when I got ahead.

, ruined my win/loss ratio.
I thought you were doorman as well. I was pretty stupid going in on that last bet.

Is there a way to see how many matches someone has participated in?

Not currently... I guess it could be a leaderboard?

Cobblestone, that's one of the things I'm able to roughly track with my Twitter bot. If you let me know your alias, I can tell you. It only goes back a couple weeks but it sounds like you joined within that time.

I think it would come in handy, if it's not too troublesome to add. I feel like it could help add some context to the other leaderboards.
I just started playing about a week ago, and I've been curious how much more some of the folks in the rankings around me have played.

Thanks, Jere! I'm Cobblestone Inducement in CM. I joined this weekend, but I know I have more than 20 matches, because I'm out of the provisional ELO rankings... and I've been playing a lot. A leaderboard would be nice to be able to compare with others, though.

Yea I agree with your suggestion. Until that comes out though, maybe this will help you:
You have played 28 games. In the last 10 days, I have played the same number and here are the people with the most games played in that period:
304 clock form
234 jeopardy alcohol
141 prayer hint
123 violation disease
123 examination kerchief
114 inhabitant obsession
