Third test contest with MONEY prizes

This contest will run from 9am to Noon US PDT time (Los Angeles time) on Friday, April 3, 2015.

I will play the game during that time using a secondary account that I have created.  I will both create and join games at a variety of stakes and try to behave as mysteriously as possible, in general.  I'm pretty mysterious already, so I should have no problem with that.

Players score 1 point for each net coin that they win in games against me, and lose 1 point for each net coin that they lose in games against me.  Leaving a game with 103 coins means you won 3 net coins, while leaving with 95 coins means you lost 5 net coins.

At the end of the contest, the top three players will win prizes:

$100
$50
$25

The leaderboard for the contest will appear here:

http://cordialminuet.com/gameServer/ser … name=test1

After the contest ends, prizes will be paid as direct payments into the game balances of the winners.

In the case of a tie for a given place, the player with the oldest account wins the tie.

NOTE:  this contest is intentionally short.  It is not intended to be fair to people who work daytime jobs or live in other timezones.  It is simply meant to test the new code for bugs.

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

I feel really stupid here but does it start at 10am/is that countdown wrong or am I just failing badly at time math?

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

Ya, 20 hours from now is 10am... but the contest starts at 9am PST. We're on PDT right now, which is an hour ahead. So I think that's where the problem is.

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

Dates, times, timezones, DST. The bane of my existence. My lazy googling for the time in PST failed me.

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

Damn, I will be away for Easter and miss this one. Good luck everyone! And don't go posting Jason's ID on the forums - us old hats have to have some advantage over the influx of new players smile.

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

Wait, what's my alias, josh?

Yeah, I meant PDT, and I fixed the time range on the server settings to be GMT -7 instead of GMT -8.  That was my mistake.

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

I hope your new account is something ominous, like "fate judge" or "coin soul"

nah, just THE CREATOR. I'd be ok seeing that tweet. ECONOMY MAKER got railed by THE CREATOR.

Darn, I'm going to bed now.

I've been gathering clues since the beginning. I reduced it down to a single possibility (assuming you have a single account used since the beginning), but only because Josh mentioned you entered a certain tournament. But that alias looks sure to be wrong, never plays, low stakes. Maybe he had it wrong or I made a mistake. I should try again, but I haven't managed to gather any new information in months!

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

Jason has just dropped several hints, but it might be rather pointless because he's playing with a secondary account this time. Will he play with his original account the next time? That would leave an interesting, potentially solvable mystery for us...

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

I guess the last game we started before the end didn't count?

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

Yeah, the way it works is that games are counted when then end during the allotted time.

Re: Third test contest with MONEY prizes

OK, so I had it right all along, but it was only Jason's secondary account, which explains the lack of games played. Guess I'm back to square 1 on determining his main alias then! EDIT: If that's his "secondary", then the "primary" apparently isn't as old as Nov 21st, foiling my methods of determining it.
