Hey all,
Just wanted to point out that we may have a spam attack incoming.
Last week there was a post from a "new player" with a spam link in the body of the message (Jason deleted it). However, I just came online now, and there's 13 registered users online, all of them new, all of them with horribly obvious spam names, and they have spam links in their user bios. If they were bold enough to make a spam post before, it'll probably happen again.
So ya, just a heads up. Be careful what you click.

Oh, jeeze... this happened for TCD bigtime too.
These people are trying to increase the google pagerank of the sites that they link in their bios.
Looks like hundreds have been added. Time for a DB query to clean them out. Sorry to all the people who made accounts long ago but never posted....

Wow, after removing over 3000 non-posting accounts (some never verified, so not showing up in the 1700 users stat), there are only 96 accounts remaining.

Okay, I also changed the registration question to be something that lazy humans won't be able to answer (these spammers aren't actually robots).

A common tactic for spam bots is to register and then wait a couple of months before making a couple of spam posts, presumably to avoid certain spam filters.

Yeah, so with 3000 of these accounts registered, we were probably in for a surprise spam breakfast at some point... yikes!
Funny... since I changed the anti-robot question to an easy one about the game itself, no new spam accounts have registered.

I could've sworn I had posted at least once or twice, but since my account has disappeared I guess I hadn't.

Yeah, your account could have gotten lost in the shuffle, Defiant00, sorry about that! It was pretty overwhelming to discover all those dormant spam accounts.

No worries, if I did post it was probably just posting my account name. I typically just lurk on forums, so it's not like I had gotten overly involved (on the forum that is, I've gotten quite into the game).
