Jeopardy Alcohol 1000th game Bounty

I have been contacted by the elusive Jeopardy Alcohol.

Over four months, Jeopardy Alcohol has turned an initial $1.64 starting balance into $450 and stricken fear into the hearts of many other players.

Jeopardy Alcohol is at the top of the games played leaderboard, and we are nearing Jeopardy Alcohol's 1000th game.

In celebration of Jeopardy Alcohol's 1000th game, Jeopardy Alcohol has proposed the following challenge:

When the 1000th game comes, Jeopardy Alcohol will create a game with a $10.00 stake.  Whoever plays that game against Jeopardy Alcohol and wins chips by the end (leaves with more than 100 chips) will have their winnings matched five-fold by Jeopardy Alcohol.  For example, if you walk away with $5 profit, Jeopardy Alcohol will give you an additional $25 bounty.

Furthermore, I have decided to match this bounty, and kick in another 5-fold bonus.  Thus, whatever chips you win as profit in that game will be matched with a 10-fold total bounty.  For example, if you walk away with $7.50 profit, Jeopardy Alcohol and I together will give you an additional $75 bounty.  The bounty will be paid as a deposit into your game account balance.

Of course, if you walk away with a chip loss, you will receive no bounty.

Very cool! I was wondering if the occasion was going to be marked and it was! I like this ad-hoc challenge kind of thing. It'd be cool to see them continue. I'd be up for something similar at some point.

Of course, it'd be really cool if the terms of the bet included a clause stating if the challenger wins then jeopardy TAKES OFF THE MASK. tongue I kid, I kid. But no really, the mystery is killing me.

Did JA really only start with a $2 deposit? That is amazing.

Yes, this is true.  JA deposited nothing beyond the initial $1.64.

Re: Jeopardy Alcohol 1000th game Bounty

I hope to see decree kerchief's 1000th game be against jeopardy alcohol for his 1000th! And for these challenges to continue.

JP did win some prizes though to get a leg up, otherwise his/her profit ratio would be astronomical. But I see that their balance minus profit is $1.64, so prizes must count towards the profit ;eaderboard.

Hello.

I would like to contact Jeopardy Alcohol. If he reads this, it would be nice, if he could contact me via this forum. If you know his nickname on the forum, maybe you can forward him this message, so he can respond.
Thanks a lot.

Re: Jeopardy Alcohol 1000th game Bounty

I don't think JA won any prizes along the way.  The prizes for the current contest won't be paid until the end.

Also, prizes don't affect profit ratio, which is (total_won - total_lost) / total_buy_in.  Profit ratio only counts what you want in actual, normal games.

JA does not do computers too well.  JA claims that JA cannot figure out how to sign up for the forums.  Do I have permission to give JA your email address?  I'm not sure JA would want to email you, though, because JA seems to get a kick out of the mystery surround JA, and JA doesn't seem like JA would know how to set up an anonymous email account.  I suppose I could act as the middle-person between you and JA, though.  If you want, you could email me the message you want to send JA.

Ooooh, so we don't have a leaderboard that gives the ratio of profit against initial deposit.  Maybe prizes would distort it too much (was it already discussed?). Then we could gawk at what players like JA have actually accomplished. Good advertising wink

Now I imagine JA as some poker-loving elderly southern gentleman.

Re: Jeopardy Alcohol 1000th game Bounty

By computing (profit / deposits), that leaderboard was punishing people who put in more money.  Making a new deposit would cause you to jump way down on that board.  And I think all the people at the top of that board were people who put in only $1.64.  If you started with $20, it was much harder to be on that list.

So, a more sensible profit ratio leaderboard was devised.

Re: Jeopardy Alcohol 1000th game Bounty

I just beat Jeopardy Alcohol in a $10 game, taking $9.10.

It was his 1001st game sad.

EDIT: Or maybe not! It is saying he played 1000 games now, and I was the last to play JA!
I think CD was a little late in updating making us think it was Rosin Gymnastics.

Nicely done, and an amulet to go with it.
Though decree kerchief ended up being the first player to 1000 games!

Yeah, I saw that happen with DK.

I'm going to query the database to pin down which game was actually JA's 1000th.

Re: Jeopardy Alcohol 1000th game Bounty

Yes, I just confirmed it was you, Josh.  You walked away with $9.10 profit, so your bonus will be $91, which I just paid you (I took 45.5 out of JA's account and 45.5 out of my bank account).

Nice, congrats Josh!! I guess the played games counter increments at the start of the game instead of the end, so it's good you stuck with that match!

Jason, has anyone suggested that JA is your dad? Because I think he's your dad. That's my headcanon at least.

Re: Jeopardy Alcohol 1000th game Bounty

I had some guesses about who JA might be based on them being a poker player and in contact with Jason. The part in which JA "does not do computers too well" confounds me though unless it's just a misdirection. It's funny: one of the top players (and most active too) at this Personal Computer game and yet is not good at computers?

I like ..'s idea "Now I imagine JA as some poker-loving elderly southern gentleman." I'm picturing a Mark Twain character here.

Further hilarity ensues when I imagine JA calling up Jason on the telephone and trying to play by proxy. I guess play by mail is out of the question. big_smile

JA does read these forums.

JA cannot figure out how to sign up for an account here, it seems.
