Sharing the invitation

"Please don't share these words publicly, but you can share them with friends that are helping you test the game.  No strangers."

Just want to be clear that we can freely invite folks we know, so long as we aren't posting this out in public, correct?

Re: Sharing the invitation

Yes, that's the idea.

Of course, this software has not been widely tested and could have bugs (this is the first larger-scale test beyond a small group of my personal friends).  Those bugs could cause people to lose money or who knows what.

SO... please make sure that you explain this to your friends.  "This is a new game that we're helping to test."

Re: Sharing the invitation

Will do. smile

It's mostly selfish. I want more bodies around to play against.

Re: Sharing the invitation

I sent out emails to something like 160 testers tonight.  Hopefully, many more of them will get the message tomorrow and take a look.  There are only 2 active players at the moment, and I myself am heading to bed.

Re: Sharing the invitation

Does the leaderboard list people who have never played a game? If so, it looks like I was one of the only people with an account who had never actually played a game of CM: I'd never seen an open game on the server until today.

Re: Sharing the invitation

Yes, the leaderboard lists everyone.  Well, the top 100 players, and right now, there are only 42 accounts.

Re: Sharing the invitation

Ah, interesting. Right now you can work out the name of your opponent by watching the scoreboard, and even the account id of new players as they register, but once there are more than 100 users that will no longer work reliably.

Re: Sharing the invitation

How can you work out new player's account ID number using the leaderboard?  You mean, relative to your own ID number, which you know?

Well, that's okay, because ID numbers are just "sequence of joining" numbers anyway and not secret.  Account keys and email addresses are secret.  You shouldn't be able to map someone's leaderboard name to their email address.

Re: Sharing the invitation

If a new name appears then it has the highest id number. I'm guessing that you said 'relative' because some account were deleted? Anyway, definitely no value to that. Knowing who your opponent is could be quite significant though.

I can also calculate exactly the amount of money deposited in your account :)

Re: Sharing the invitation

Are you opposed to us talking about the game on a public space? I made a YouTube video about The Castle Doctrine when I got access, and people reacted well to it. Wondering if I can do the same with Cordial Minuet.

Re: Sharing the invitation

Yeah, it's fine to talk about it publicly or show videos of it.  Just don't give away the secret words!

Re: Sharing the invitation

On that note, I think that the unlisted tutorial video you have on Youtube is a far better introduction to the game than any of the articles that have been published, which explained some things really badly. If you're OK with people posting videos, then why not make that one public?
