Try Linux, get free. #!++ (CrunchbangPlusPlus) is a stable distribution based on Debian 8. Keep it fast, keep it pretty.

Very cool to see this out there. Probably the closest to a Disney ending that you can expect to see on a story about gambling.
I feel a little silly though thinking the whole week that I was going to be in the story. Oh well.
Check out the active users! This game is blowing up. What a time to have a tournament, huh?

Amazing article...
Jere, just wondering, what kind of stuff did you tell Patrick?

I started off by offering to play him, since he said he was going to try to explore the game on a Tuesday morning. He seemed too busy for that and eventually just sent me like 4 questions to answer. Pretty basic stuff except for asking me if I thought this whole thing was "an experiment" and if the game required skill to which I responded to the effect of "not after the first $500" and "absolutely."
I'm definitely a secondary character here, but thought just maybe....
Interesting anecdote: I felt very guilty after the first $500 I won from Doorman and at that point explained as best as I could what he was doing wrong. It was much, much harder to get the next $400. And I imagine orders of magnitude harder than when you started.

Yes, I think we both started feeling guilty and told him advice at the same time xD. He's really good now, although there might be some room for improvement from what I've seen.
When it comes to preying on unskilled players in this game, it's easy to see yourself become their demon...and I didn't enjoy that feeling!

Room for improvement, eh? Put your (my old) money where your mouth is. I'll put up a $100 game in a few minutes.

Hahaha I will tomorrow probably xD. We shall see!

Sorry, just took a quick break. Would be happy to play that $30 game if you're still interested .
Edit: Oh well, maybe some other time. It has been tense and fun by the way! After a day full of new players it's good to be up against another decent player.

One thing I noticed in the comments of the article is that everyone seems so sure that a bigger penalty for leaving will "fix the game". That or they suggest a bigger ante.
Maybe I abused the system by quitting games, but maybe the system itself is intentionally evil to serve as a commentary.

That's interesting, so there were comments in the Kotaku article that mirrored the discussion I started here? I wouldn't say the system is intentionally evil or anything. It's just ultra conservative, and favors players that refuse to take any real risks. Which means that any player willing to sit around folding until they have a sure thing is probably going to make money in the long run. Punishing people for taking risks is not a good policy in a gambling game, and if Cordial Minuet doesn't fix the betting system soon, we may see all these new players quickly evaporate.
