I see you've still got money in the bank Cullman.
Would you be willing to play me for $141.83? That's my current balance over $1000. No reveals.
If I win I'd be happy to play again for a higher stake as long as my balance doesn't drop below $1000.
What do you say?
For those who still come here:
Spoilers:
I ended up going way too low which I guess was partly to do with not really knowing what type of people would play. Around 30% seemed to be a ridiculous average as I assumed no one would think so little about the question as to think that other people would just pick randomly. I was playing as if everyone realised it was a race to the bottom, which in hindsight wasn't very clever.
0 games over the last 3 days.
Just 14 games in the last week, and only 3 of them bot-less.
There have been times of more and less activity in the past but nothing like this. I'm thinking it might be time to withdraw my winnings.
If this is the end then it's been a lot of fun and an interesting experience all up. And it's been great playing games with you guys.
Hey Dan, once you entered the tournament there should have been an option on the screen to create/join a tournament game at 10c. If anyone else had joined the tournament then they could join your game, or if someone had already created a tournament game you would join theirs.
Sadly at the moment there isn't enough player activity for the daily tournaments to work though, so it is unlikely you'll be able to get a tournament game. Some people have suggested people on the forums agreeing to join a tournament on a particular day to make it worth playing.
Well, remember Ano has the 11th amulet and go back and read his last comment... might give a clue .
Wouldn't it be more obvious and straightforward to have:
7 - N, O
8 - P, Q
9 - R, S
?
What do you mean by "top" and "left"? Why are you dividing it into two sets?
You've got to remember madcatz that Ano has the 13 notch gold amulet (given on the second last day) and so has additional information, and also that there is currently no sign of an 11 notch amulet.
Also, card, it the 9 notch amulet fits perfectly in sequence given the missing J and 2 letters on each letter before.
I left with a .075 profit after the first game and at that time on the leaderboard it put me ahead with $13.333 and JA on $6.66 so I don't think it is working as it is supposed to.
I guess it is now a situation where the first to 126 coins wins the contest if only two join (and they leave).
There is a bit of an issue with tournaments in which only 2 players join. Basically the aim is to get more than 6 coins and then leave. Once you've done that you've won, and if only one other player joins at least you've guaranteed yourself second place if you'd don't play anymore.
Also currently you can win prizes when below $0? I thought you'd fixed that to stop players winning by joining at the last second? Also means that in a two player tournament you don't win much (but I guess you don't lose much either).
Edit:
Ok, just figured out what happened. I didn't make the minimum amount to win but it's still decided to hand out prizes in order of winner to loser (just with no rake). So if I make a few more cents against I'll take the whole $18 prize pool.
I quite like this idea, as long as the entire prize pool is still given out at the end.
It should only affect tournaments with < 20 players and will give incentives for even a far out on top player to keep playing and bring everybody else down below 0 in order to get the whole pool themselves.
Well, I wasn't saying JA should have the money taken from them, just that it is an exploit . I think joining and not playing an hour before the contest ends would be fine as you don't know what the outcome will be and if you'll make money or not and so you are making a gamble. But 2 mins before it ends? Here you are pretty much guaranteed money for no effort. So, sure, make not playing a strategy. But don't allow a player to join in the last few minutes to take a prize.
A higher factor would certainly make the contest for first place tenser, but I guess it might also be a disincentive to those who don't think they have a good chance of 1st place. I would prefer it, but as I said I'm a bit biased.
I think something needs to be done to stop people from stealing places by joining in the last few minutes with a pretty much guaranteed win. I'm not sure having a 1 game minimum would fix this as a player could still join, join a game and then leave straight away with only a small loss. I guess this wouldn't be guaranteed for the player though as they might not get a game...
Still perhaps you need to stop people joining in past a certain time, like in the last 30 mins. This should fix the issue.
What JA did was an exploit and I think Chin was robbed and should be reimbursed. I also think he has a point about JA not having a non-existent net profit. Claspa and I have agreed to lose the $12 to Chin if you're not willing to reimburse him Jason.
I might be a little biased here but $27.44 doesn't seem like much of a winning for top place in a $10 tournament against 8 other opponents.
And poor Chin Professor was robbed at the last minute of $12 by JA joining!
Join the tournament now to earn instant 3rd place, with a prize of $15.6098!
(and also boost the top prize by $3....)
You possibly should have waited until after handing out the Launch Tournament prize money before holding a $10 comp Jason.
Now is the possibility of winning $5 worth getting up at 4am for...
(edit: well make that $10, another player has joined!)
I get up at 4am and I was the only one playing 20 mins in...
Luckily Chin Professor joined .
Thanks Jason,
The Q value seems quite high when used with the daily board, especially for low stakes players.
Overall though I'm not sure if the profit ratio really means much. It puts a large amount of emphasis on how you do in high stakes games - for instance, if I joined a $500 game and then left when I was on 106 coins this would have a large negative effect on my ratio.
I'm debating whether I am going to get up at 4am to play this...
Okay, I have no idea what Profit Ratio means.
According to the daily leader boards I've played two game. I just played those games and won the first $2 game taking the whole pot of $1.90. The second was for $0.45 and I took away $0.40.
My daily profit ratio after these two games is 1.184.
Where on earth does this number come from?
You've completely forgotten about draws Jason (I did as well when I first made up my list):
For "Day 5 (gold)" Gist Effort and Infant Mule drew for 4th place ($20).
For "Day 6 (copper)" there was a 4 way draw for 3rd place ($10) between factory management, impact distinction, allegory bravery and rosin gymnastics.
I'll send you an email.
Exactly who gets what amulet will soon be decided and I thought I'd start a thread for people both interested in acquiring and selling amulets to let others know.
I personally haven't yet decided which gold amulet to take (though should decide today to help Jason get it all sorted). I'm thinking that I might sell the amulet as I'm not sure about what I'd do with an amulet displaying a demonic sigil. It would be nice if I could find a buyer as opposed to going to a gold trader. So on the off chance that you want to spend $800+ on a pure gold amulet, let me know!
I'd also like to know which of the last two gold amulets people prefer.
Damn, I was starting to feel that the experimental game had become a guaranteed win for me. Probably a good reason to remove it though, it really doesn't have the same depth as the original.
