Are any of those live-streamed games viewable online?
Yes, but only one (for now). I was originally streaming through Steam's interface just to friends, but that doesn't archive anywhere. I made a Twitch account recently, and I have one broadcast I did on there that I've archived onto YouTube. I'd be reluctant to link it since it isn't on a Cobblestone account, but at this point what the hell. I guess now you'll know why I wanted the Cat Face amulet so much! I haven't watched it all the way through since I recorded it, so hopefully I don't sound like an idiot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXMsSC4Re8g
I hope it's possible to keep playing for a while longer. I truly love this game and want it to survive.
A tournament would be fun. If there's interest, we should really try to organize more community events together so we have a better idea of when some of us would be on. Actually, it'd be neat if the client had the ability for us to create on-the-fly tournaments... not sure how realistic it would be to implement that, or if Jason would want to spend the time on it at this point.
I know I've been saying it forever, but I still want to host a party. Also more live-streaming and such. It's just finding the time and audience. Should we make a thread to gather ideas to get CM back out into the wild? I'm sure if we all worked together, we might be able to get something going. Maybe we could issue a challenge to Markiplier or something ![]()
You guys said it though, I'm so glad for this game and this community. You're all awesome!
I've been wondering the same thing. All last week, I was the only player on whenever I opened the game.
I still really love CM, and I think this community is great. I'm not sure what happened. I never did get to have the big local CM party I wanted, but I really did try to get my friends to play. I live streamed several times and wrote a few blog posts too, but even then, the few friends and followers who did join didn't seem to stick around too long.
I think a mobile version or the cashless Steam version that was discussed could reinvigorate interest, but I'm not sure how much more effort Jason wants to put in at this point.
Anyway, I may not be playing as often as I have in the past, but I'll stick around a little bit longer to play here and there.
Josh, if you're out, it's been great playing with you, even if I always struggled against you! Take care and keep in touch.
This was completely unintentional, and now I'm scared.

I'll try to update this as we get more photos, just to keep handy:

I think Jason stated in the contest thread that the order they were being given out was to place the more valuable amulets on the weekend. So I think it's alright to assume that item 1 is irrelevant, as you said.
Regarding a 13th amulet, I think we also noticed that there was enough materials in the photo of the coins used to cast the amulets to create one more silver amulet. Also with them being named after the zodiac, there is a 13th zodiac that's been lost with time and superstition. With that information, the notches, and Jason's elusive answer toward the funky ordering, we sorta ran with the idea that this puzzle was working toward finding this lost amulet...
Either way, it won't make any difference if we can't find a cipher to solve! ![]()
Oooooh ok! Totally see what you're saying now! Hm, you're right... that amulet is a pretty big linchpin here. I took Jason's comment to mean that it is intentional, and I still believe that. I don't think he's the one to make a mistake like that. Even if he did, since it's wax carved he could have very easily fixed a mistake like that as it happened. We haven't seen the backs of any of the golds amulets yet, right? I'm wondering if the notches and zodiac orders are an added puzzle layer on top of the cipher. I'd be interested in seeing which order the alphabet on the back of amulet "11" falls in to.
Jason's comment was referring to the swapped 12 and 13 order.
I think we're getting our wires crossed somewhere.
He did hand them out in a different order to have high value ones the weekend. Once you restack them into broze, silver, and gold they go in notch order, except there isn't an amulet with 11 notches. Also, the amulets with 12 and 13 notches were handed out in reverse order. When you translate their code names to the signs of the zodiac, having 13 before 12 is the proper zodiac order, but then when you put them in notch order, the zodiac signs for 12 and 13 are backwards. We also speculated that the missing 11th amulet was Ophiuchus, the sidereal astrology 13th zodiac, but then the order is still incorrect.
Hope this helps us get on the same page! ![]()
(Let me know if I'm misunderstanding what you're saying!)
Edit: I put links to help anyone coming into the thread late, since it's grown pretty far past the things we figured out a few months ago.
Edit 2: I'm using "figured out" loosely.
Ya, we never really could figure out why the notches put them in the wrong order. We did figure out that there is the mysterious 13th Zodiac that falls between Scorpio and Sagittarius, which would also be in the wrong position as the 11th amulet. Jason did this intentionally, though... so it's part of the puzzle.
I think you have Aries and Capricorn backwards (Capricorn is an OceanRam, the name of the first amulet). Also, I was considering them to be in order based on our calendar. Capricorn is the first zodiac of the year.
2) Edit: While the order of the amulets doesn't follow the zodiac order exactly right (2 through 4 are out of order), that "13th" amulet is Scorpius, which falls in between Libra (the 10th amulet) and Sagittarius (the 12th amulet).
Everything I've seen says they're in the proper zodiac order except for 12 and 13 being switched. How should they be ordered?
Aw man, I totally would've joined this if I'd seen this thread at the time!
Hey jere!
I don't know if you have any desire to expand on this bot, but Telegram just introduced the ability to create bots within their app:
https://telegram.org/blog/bot-revolution
It might be handy for people who want to interact with the bot, but don't have a Twitter account (or don't want their Twitter account revealed).
Wait, the letters on the board could possibly correspond to the signs of the zodiac? Ok, yes. This is a path to explore.
Ah, good point! I need to start going all-in more...
There's definitely a balance between being fair for both someone who needs to leave for legitimate reasons and the person who gets stood up. Matching the penalty to the ante seemed intimidating, but I think this 1/2 coin idea sounds pretty good.
Hm. I'm not sure how I feel about this. There are legitimate reasons and strategies to leaving later in the game. Also, someone who's a pickpocket might not have any problem with simply going all-in after the first pick of their last round to steal the ante for a "free" leave penalty, since I doubt most people would call it.
Thanks for posting up photos! We need to see if we can encourage the others with amulets to do the same.
A simple substitution cypher isn't very hard to break... In cases with a sufficiently long message, you usually don't even need a hint to break it. I wonder if there isn't more to this then meets the eye. In the first place, we don't really have a message to decode yet, do we?
This is exactly what I was thinking. Maybe it'll start becoming clearer as we get more pieces to the puzzle.
Videos, live streaming, and local events are all good plans to get the word out.
These are all things I've meant to do, but life caught up with me the last few weeks. Hopefully I'll have a video done soon. I've live streamed three times now and the few folks who watched thought it was really interesting. Of course, I play with an 8 minute delay to avoid the stream being used against me, so that hampers things a bit since it limits my ability to answer questions in real-time.
I've mentioned several times that I want to host a CM party, and I want to continue working toward that. Doing what Ink Disparity has done and actually playing the game live for people seems to be a great way to encourage others to try it for themselves.
Hm! Ok, I think I may have to get a Pi to play around with then. It seems like it might be a good solution for what I'm trying to do.
Poking this thread out of curiosity, did the RPi end up being a viable system for CM? Also, could it be used as a local server...?
How about something like this, with little tournaments throughout the week, but then also running a week-long tournament once a month?
The thing with the little ones is not only does someone have to be available when it starts, but also for their entire short duration. With a longer tournament, availability matters less.
Almost sounds like a ritual...
That sounds like a good plan. I'd love to see another multi-day tournament too.
This is awesome! I can't wait to give it a shot!
What stakes are each level played at? Does it mention them in the client?
To anyone receiving an amulet, please post a photo of the back to this thread!
