Hi, i want to play this game, not for money but because i think it's rules are awesome, but i have concerns about entering my credit card data.
I believe in that Jason Rohrer don't store the credit card data, and in the encription. But this days it's super simple to fake the .exe and have your data stolen.
In the browsers you have the lock icon when the comunication is ciphered, and the destiantion is verified by a certificate. Its not 100% safe but it's safer than walk alone in a dark street. But with the .exe there is not single indication that your data it's secure.
So that i rather prefer to add founds on mi Cordial Minuet account by paypal, even if i cant retake them by the same method.

Instead of Paypal, CM uses Stripe for credit card processing. (I personally trust Stripe vastly more than I trust Paypal.)
If the .exe on the server is infected with a virus or worm, then the server is compromised and it doesn't matter whether the exe has been replaced or not. You have to trust that the server is secure. (There is a US$3000 bug bounty for security bugs)
Likewise if your computer is infected nothing else matters.
That leaves the transfer of the file from the server to your computer as the weak link. It's true that government agencies or prople running free wifi can and sometimes do infect .exes as you download them. (If that's not what you meant by "fake .exes" I have no idea.) I notice that the cordialminuet.com website uses HTTP. Trying to access via HTTPS (to download the client) warns that the certificate is self-signed for server.thecastledoctrine.net. So that is one thing Jason could do better.
To prevent that from happening, check the hash of the client:
$ sha1sum -b CordialMinuet_v23_Windows.exe
63d4a4e90708e3582ec9704b182f8c706b2a9ceb *CordialMinuet_v23_Windows.exe
Or you can compile it yourself.

PayPal is notorious for freezing Fantasy Football accounts and taking the funds, even though Fantasy Football is legal in the US.
Stripe, on the other hand, just forbids "Gambling" and does not include games of skill:

Also, because Stripe accounts don't store a balance (they deposit into my bank account daily), even if they did decide to block me, they wouldn't be able to steal the money like PayPal can.

In Germany and some other countries around Europe credit cards aren't very common,
so it would be kinda sad to not be able to play the game.
It sounds really interesting, so I'd very much like to try it.

Money can also be deposited with a pre-paid VISA gift card. Claspa is a German player who frequents the chatroom often, perhaps he would have a better answer for you.

Yeah, unfortunately if you have no credit card there is no option for you to play this game.
In Germany there are no pre-paid Visa gift cards.
If you really cannot find someone else with a credit card, try to contact me via forum mail and maybe we can work something out.

It looks like Stripe only supports credit cards, Apple Pay, and Bitcoin? (I can't understand what half the stuff on their website is talking about, though, looks like a hundred different ways to enter CC details.) That's too bad. There's got to be something out there that's trustworthy and can handle payments more generally. CCs used to be uncommon in New Zealand too until banks started introducing debit cards because of the situation online; I finally got one last year.

On my last stop at a German gas station I checked the prepaid card section and I found a so called "Joker Mastercard Geschenkskarte" (Gift card).
I haven't tried it, but I assume this one should work with CM.
