Ah, ok that makes sense! I guess I jumped the gun a bit then. Thanks!
No catface for meeeee... I am ENDLESS SADNESS.

No no, I went all in, won, and left while the coins were animating to me. He had 20 left and I had everything else minus rake.
Oh ya, I figured it would be played blackjack style, with player vs house and a rake. If it were player vs player, you couldn't just have it on the casino floor, since everyone would cheat!
No casino would want it, precisely because there's no luck element! They can't guarantee the house would always win.
hey Jason, I think I just had a weird thing happen to me with the leaving penalty. I was in a match and went to leave, and for some reason the leave button said "Pay 0" instead of "Pay 6", but I'm looking at the score right now and it seems like I lost the 6 coins and maybe even the next ante? I went all in, but my opponent had coins left.
There's a screenshot button?! I'm going to abuse the shit outta this now. Thanks!
No worries! You could almost create a feed on your humbit site that doesn't have a character limit, and then tweet links to that entry when the tweet is too long.
Maybe they just feel an hour long? I'm pretty sure my last match against claspa was that long. It certainly took a few years off my life, at least.
I'm very careful on the third pick too. I usually get it wrong on the second pick, because I'm analyzing the first numbers and looking at the graph and figuring out what columns to pick and WAIT WHY IS MY COLUMN TURNING RED??!?
Hm, I hadn't thought of colorblind mode. I have thought about trying the number pad, but I'm worried I'll mess that up ever more! I'll give it a shot, though.
I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT
It looks like the character limit and the high volume of players is freaking the bot out. I'm subscribed to myself, and I'll sometimes get @'d to two or three tweets in a row, none of them containing myself. I'm thinking my info is between the tweets, as it were.
I was wondering if anyone else has this problem... sometimes I get way too focused on the board and which columns I'm picking next that, for whatever stupid reason, I set the sliders without looking at their color and I get them backwards. I don't know why, because they always start in the same position, but it's really screwed me over sometimes. Especially now during the contest, with all the excitement and fatigue of hour+ games...
I know obviously the solution is to actually look at the damn sliders, but sometimes I space out.
Does anyone else do this?
Sorry, it does when you join a game too. I just meant it doesn't always chime after every action, only ones that have taken awhile.
The chime only sounds when an action is needed after a period of time has passed (I forget how long). It won't chime if the other player makes a move right away.
The traveller has come! Choose the form of the desctructor and perish!
As for the low frame rate, you can reduce the target framerate by editing settings/halfFrameRate.ini: 0 for 60 fps, 1 for 30, 2 for 15 etc. If it can't hit the target framerate then the game doesn't automatically drop frames as you noticed, which is unplayable. But with the target reduced it's perfectly playable even at less than 7 fps like on my cellphone.
Thank you so much for this!! I wasn't aware and I've been playing on a laptop that chugs trying to keep up with the framerate!
As for the resolution, I'm not in front of the game now, but I'm guessing there's a setting to reduce it? I tried playing on an old 800x600 tablet and it freaked out because the height of the game was larger than the screen.
I think you just have to leave before the game grabs the next board. So ya, if you're going to fold and leave, you have to leave during the fade out animation. I could be wrong, though.
Maybe the leave message could be more informative with that? Like (Pay 6 + Ante) or (Pay 6 + Lose 3)?
it seems like certain players may end up streaming and whatnot anyway so there's likely to be some external stuff where players can feed off of the souls willing to reveal themselves
Between Jason's post and this sentence, I'm now heavily reconsidering my plans to livestream!
I might be safe, though, because you all don't know who I am or what name I stream under.
...or do you? DO YOU?!?!
Open Broadcaster is free and has a stream delay setting. I haven't tried it yet, but it's something I've been meaning to do. I'll probably try it out on Saturday.
Delaying the "broadcast" until the whole game (not just one round) is over is another option.
Why? Surely after the round is over, there's nothing gained by seeing what happened... Oh, I suppose someone could tell a player what her opponents' picks were, and whether she was bluffing or not. Hmm... But still, watching a game after it's completely done is not nearly as exciting as watching it as it unfolds, albeit one round behind.
I've been thinking of livestreaming CM, but I'd only do it with an 8 minute delay, since 8 minutes is roughly equivalent to an entire match. Getting to the end and seeing all of the numbers your opponent chose for themselves can reveal a lot of information about their picking and betting strategies. If an opponent were to ghost a broadcast with a delay that was only per round, they could gain an advantage. Granted it's probably hard to play and watch a broadcast, but honestly that's not information I want them to have. Maybe I'm just being paranoid!
I have to ask, would you really know that you're watching a delayed game? The match would appear to unfold in real-time for you. I could livestream a match I played a month ago and I'd think people would still be just as engaged. I might be wrong though.
Graph's getting a bit long I see!
I've also been talking the game up to a lot of people, and I think I'll probably be posting on Facebook and other social sites today. I have several friends that are interested in the game but just haven't taken the plundge yet. Hopefully the contest will entice them! Although one friend did say he didn't want to be learning a new game during a contest, which I thought was interesting. I wanted to try to set up a party themed around the game with a few stations and a local server, but I just haven't had the time to get that going. I even got these awesome coins they can bet with if they really want to try it out risk free! I really wanted to do that before launch, but it'll happen eventually and hopefully they'll want to join afterward.
If I have time tonight, I'll make a video or something about the game to put up somewhere. Then again, today is everyone get drunk day, so I'm not sure that'll happen.

That wouldn't work, because they wouldn't actually be ineligible for the prize. If someone wins day 1, they can still win day 6 and then day 1 goes to second place. If you're playing day 6 and that player has an asterix on them for winning day 1, the asterix is misleading. Also, allowing winners of two to choose their prize makes an automated system like you're suggesting unreliable.
Edit: Whoops! I missed the part where you're only talking about 2nd-4th place.
Is a player who win multiple days choosing strictly the amulet, or the amulet and the prize money?
I really want TwoClaws... so if I win that day and gold on another day (highly unlikely, but pretend), could I choose the silver amulet and still get the higher dollar value? Or are they a pair?
If they are a pair, why is choosing an option? I want TwoClaws, but I don't want it enough to sacrifice $100. You could just award the higher value and not involve the players.
